Freshly baked cookies

The EU law regarding Cookies has been live since May of this year and we will be approaching our clients and advise them that action needs taking with regards to the law.

All websites are obliged to have a notice to tell their site visitors that data cookies are collected.

Cookies are not necessarily at all the evil snoopie snippies that they have been made out in old fashioned circles. Nearly all websites requires cookies to make them run smoothly for lots of reasons. Some very obvious cookies can absolutely not be avoided if the site is to function. Shopping baskets need to be able to remember what you've added when it comes time to pay - they use a cookie. Logins use a cookie for remembering you when you re-visit the site.

Google Analytics needs to gather stuff for you as a site owner to be able to analyse site visits and so on. Facebook, Twitter and other social media do the same for those reasons.

Web visitors do not have to worry about these. Many cookies are also short lived and will be auto deleted after a period.

Very soon we will publish a further blog and explain cookies in more details but for now all web owners where the site is hosted or controlled in the EU need to know that they are obliged to tell their visitors about cookies and Redcetera can help with a smart widget.

Contact us for more information - cheers for now.

Excited - new site nearly ready

Our own site www.Redcetera.com has been a bit neglected to say the least! One of those things I guess but we bit the bullet after much berating ourselves with the famous 'practice what your preach'. Web designers notoriously ignore their own design having to concentrate on behalf of their clients! Well, customers always come first naturally but there does come a time that ... etc etc.

Nearly there and I hope in a week or maybe two we can go Live and we do hope that our clients, old and new as well as our colleagues and friends will like it/critisize it no matter what. A taste of whats to come follows in the preview image.

If you want us to design you a new site or give your site a modest or thorough make-over or you need widgets you know where to come!

Till soon, Eva

City Break Sofia Live

Today we have made live the holiday site City Breaks Sofia. Sofia in Bulgaria is an increasingly popular destination for holiday and business visitors. Sofia is a very pretty 'doable sized' town with lots to offer. from amazing parklands to mountains, perfect for skiing in winter or hiking and general visiting in summer.

Our client Peter has 3 large luxury apartments fully kitted out at an amazingly cheap (we don't want to use that word lightly now do we) price - from £30 (yes!) per night. I think I am just going to go soon to check it out for myself and I advise you to take a look at the site to get some idea. Sofia will soon be rivalling places like Budapest and other still relatively undiscovered places in Eastern Europe.

Peter has gotten together with a top dental practice and has asked us to design and build a site for that too. Dental 'holidays' now being the in-thing as Eastern European prices are less than half than what our dentists charge. Holidays with a smile he!

If you need Redcetera to make you smile - get in touch or visit our website

Ciao, Eva
I should also want to tell you about Luminaires who have a wonderful selection of lighting available from their offices in Douglas, Isle of Man. People have the wrong impression thinking that their lighting solution are outside their budget so Ralph asked us to help them set up a webshop which we did.

This offers them now the opportunity to display and offfer for sale a much larger selection than they can currently show in their premises. A funky range it is. Check it out for yourself - just visit their website and click on the shop link. Luminaires

We chose Powa for them again. We are Powa providers and truly advocate this platform for e-commerce solutions big or small. It is stable, reliable and very reasonably priced. Used by the big boys such as Mothercare, Tesco's and what not. Go to www.Powa.com for more info or contact us if you want have a demo or more information or simply have decided that Redcetera does it for you (the smart thing).

Ciao, Eva

Chroma Make-Over

Yep, not posted any news for some time again! Shame shame shame.
Anyway, a month or so ago we made live the Big make-over for Chroma. Complete change including layout etc etc but above all a complete change from WHITE to BLACK. Refreshing, daring, always ahead of the rest and so very much befitting Michaela and Gerard Jones, proprietors of The Exchange Limited and their company Chroma.

As always a pleasure working with you guys and unless I am as bad as usual with my posting there should be news soon on more projects for and with this favourite client.

Check it out - the website has amazing flooring, including gorgeous designer carpets as well as a host of broadloom in natural wool, silk, linen or any combination in the most amazing arrays of colours and textures. Lovely Chroma! www.chroma.im

Happy New Year

This year 2012 - Twenty Twelve rolls off the tongue pretty smoothly and so lets all wish for an smooth year as well.

Redcetera does and hopes that despite the 'big economic downturn' we should all believe more in ourselves and let this year be an upwards and onwards succesful 2012.

The role of the internet with E-commerce in particular is growing so fast that year on year growth figures can't quite keep up with sensible numbers. Online businesses in both the business to business (BtoB) or business to consumers (BtoC) sectors have learned a lot from the past few years and have started to listen to their web savvy visitors who now want more than just a shopping basket but require high quality, well written, slick, interesting, interactive & efficient sites that stand out from the competition. In a crowded market place online businesses are having to keep up to date with current web trends that respond to their customer wants and needs.

In the battle to gain high ranking online businesses also have to realise that to beat the competition and appease Google their website text must be original and relevant to the content as do the keywords and other meta tags. So no peace for the wicked and keep the site fresh and up to date.

It being already again 3 January, there is no stopping now.  So no matter what, 2012 is going to be a busy year. Busy with marketing, busy with new web ideas & innovations and if all goes well and we work hard - busy with success.

We wish all our clients a very happy and prosperous 2012 and in particular wish Carol and John Kinrade success with their very new travel venture that only launched right at the last minute in 2011. Ultimate Vacation Holidays offers fabulous holidays in the Dominican Republic. Check out the site and let us know what you think or when you are going!

We also just signed up Luxury and High Performance Car Specialist John Inghams who are currently based in Ramsey but who are building a new showroom to open later this year in Douglas. We will do our best to show of their beautiful products as they deserve.

Our client dermatologist John Ashworth also went only live a few month ago with a new site offering lots of advice on skin problems and a unique online consultation for those who are worried. To encourage new customers they have a sale on during January so try it out for yourself. We wish John much success.

This blog is now finished but I will be back soon with more news. Meanwhile if you need help or advice with website design, marketing or SEO contact me. It is always a pleasure to be of service.

John Ashworth - Dermatologist Youtube promo video

Our Client John Ashworth for whom we had the pleasure to build a website aptly named www.dermatologist.co.uk has a passion for his work and thankfully he is very concerned with our skin welfare.

Apart from lots of info on skin conditions including (of course) lots on scary skin cancer stuff and it predesessor Moles, the site provides an online skin consultancy service where concerned folk can upload a close-up skin image for Dr Ashworth to give his assesment, assurance and/or opinion on moles and other skin complaints including sexual. This confidential 24hour turn-around service gets emailed back to you with a full skin advice management program which if need be you can take to your GP.

Very handy is the Body Map where you can do a self-check locating the area of complaint with site links to the possible skin condition.

To spread this important site and unique good-health service further the first few of several more videos have now been uploaded to YouTube where Dr John Ashworth talks about Moles and other skin conditions. Here is a preview of  one of  the videos.

As always, if you need some help promoting your business - healthy or not (?). Redcetera can assist with commercial business sites be they e-commerce or not. New website builds, website make-overs, Search Engine Optimisation, Web Marketing and much more.

All our webs are of course in the best possible taste with fabulous design and very good solid coding.

New Site Completed and LIVE

Check out our new site that we've just put live for our Moldovan Dentist client Crisdent Dental Care. To view go here: http://www.balteancrisdent.md/

Yep, it is unlikely you will be able to read or understand anything until you click the EN language button at the top right of the site. It has been published in 4 languages and the Russian crylic gave us a head ache or two from time to time. We had to rely on the client Lina Baltenau to get it right! Thank you Lina, you have been patient.

It has been a fun and interesting site to do and we wish the clinic all the best and are sure they will be attracting lots of new dental clients to visit Moldova and have their teeth done whilst on Holiday in their beautiful country.

www.BalteanCrisdent.md
If there are any businesses in or out of the health industry why not contact us for a chat. We design new sites from scratch or your site may need a small or complete make-over. If you want to keep your site updated (so very very important!) yourself we can build it with a content management system (CMS). I will write a blog on this soon.

Meanwhile contact me eva@redcetera.com for any more info or your comments which we are always happy to hear! Alternatively visit our site www.Redcetera.com

Qr bar code created for redcetera

This bar code or QR code has been generated with #QRDroid. an adndroid app

Hopefully it will show up here in this blog so you can view and scan it with your app.

Did this with my phone so keeping fingers crossed. Droid is however a great clever app which you should download.

I am testing different barcode scanner apps to compare them. Great fun and very useful for embedding on your site and business cards. Within this image it has encoded and holds all your info like contact and site details - what ever you put into it -  in the bar code and is a great way to advertsie your company.

Let me know if you want to know more on bar code or other apps.

This is it - hold your phone over (with an installed app of course) and read our details into your phone.

Ultimate Vacation Holidays website

That is the website domain name we're working on. Ulitmate Vacation Holidays are based at a fabulous luxury holiday resort in the Dominican Republic and we're designing a site that is making me green with envy. The location and the resort are an absolute dream. Not only beautiful white beaches, the bluest water, etc etc but the accomodation, restaurants and other amenities look superb. Poor us having to look and work with all these amazing images and yet here back home the weather is getting less so.

Ok, we're apparently experiencing an Indian Summer. Rather be in the Dominican Republic lounging in a beach chair with a cocktail! To get a flavour of what's to come we have put up a temporary holding page with a small slideshow. Check UltimateVacationHolidays out here.

Pssst .... If you can't wait to go there you can contact the owners Carol and John via the number on the site.

Medical Website Gone Live

We are pleased and are happy for our client Dr. John Ashworth to declare www.Dermatologist.co.uk LIVE. Dr John is a highly respected consultant dermatologist who feels passionate about skin cancer and is sharing his knowledge on his site with lots of advice on all manner of skin problems. Worried folk can upload an image of their skin ailment and John will give his expert opinion. This is exactly what the internet is for.It took a little longer to get the the site ready as bits kept being added and changed. Check out the Bodymap which is a self help symptom checker for men and women.
Making websites is kind a strange in that you unwittingly get involved into all sorts of businesses and the Dermatologist is no different in that we've picked up a lot of medical skin problem terms all of a sudden!

As per usual there are little things that need finishing, that will be added or edited and no doubt - as it is a CMS (Content Managment System) enabled site the owners will do their bit to keep the site fresh and updated - but for now the Dermatologist is open for business. Redcetera wishes Dr John good luck.

If any other doctors or companies out there need any sites, let us know. Redcetera is also open for business. We love good design and use the latests in web technology to build good looking, clever but solid sites that don't break the bank. Email me: eva@redcetera.com or visit our site www.Redcetera.com or call for a chat.

New device

Got myself an HTC wildfire phone and using it to post this blog. Unlike some folk I am not an avid texter but have to admit that writing, though different, is fun on this cute smart phone. So who knows - it might spur me on to blog more instead of watching telly at night. Daytime seems to leave to little time for other than strictly necessary at the mo. Not sure how to add images so have to leave that out for now. Will have to try that next time! Good nite all.
Let me know if you prefer pc or smart blogging ... Cioa Eva@redcetera.com

Flipping busy ...

Wow, so much to do, so little time.
Once again, this poor blog is suffering and all my good intentions of keeping it up todate go out of the window. Bad news for a web designer! but, of course clients always come first.

Despite the pressure I am glad to say we've made some time for Giacomo who came to us for work experience. Together we've designed and built a small site for his parent's hair dressing salon in Kirk Michael. Giacomo has talent and if he would take it up later would have a definate future as web designer with his flair for coding and design.  See for yourself www.MopHairSalon.com. Brilliant for cutting and colouring, by the way ..

We've also put live the shopping site for www.ManxLeathers.com  with high quality leather race suits and other clothing items for motorcyclists. I am sure it will do well with more items coming soon. We just love his hand-made leather badges. Take a peep and tell all your biking friends. Well done and Good Luck to Steve!!

Meanwhile w are building a complex site for a star dermatologist and this is taking much longer than anticipated ... More news on this very soon - it's gotto go up in the next few days - or weeks if things are being changed - but have high hopes to let you see it asap (if its up to us).

Now, some very important news: We have a yet another office helper - a highly intelligent programmer - with paws insteads of fingers. Even so, she is determined to read up on all the website books asap and raiding our book shelf. Not joking, Here is Trxiebel 12 weeks and counting. See for your self.

If you also want a job or maybe some work done with her help then contact me asap!
Kind regards, till soon - eva

Manx Leathers - Gone LIVE

Just in the nick of time - a month or so before the Manx TT we managed to go Live with www.ManxLeathers.com - famous for making bespoke race suits for famous TT riders.

This site had to go live now but many updates will be made to it soon. Steve will be expanding his range of products and offer beside his bespoke race suits soon also quality off-the-peg race leathers as well as bike textiles, t-shirts, wallets etc etc. This will require a full blown e-shop but for now we have put up galleries and slide shows, measurement forms and all sorts to enable owner Steve to showcase some of his work that Manx Leathers has produced for his biker clients.

Check it out and let him (or us) know what you think www.ManxLeathers.com

Dentists, Estate Agents and Holiday Lets

Redcetera is busy designing and building sites with online booking and payment facilities.

A specialist dentist in Moldova requires Client Appointment Bookings.
A local Manx estate agent needs a Property Search Site.
A Bulgarian property owner needs a site with a Holiday Appartment Booking System.

Booking systems do best written in PHP in combination with Jquery which we enjoy using. These International clients appeal to the UK market as well as their own and will all require translation. We recommend Google Translator which nearly does a perfect job.

If you want to know more - get in touch and email info@Redcetera.com

Till next time ....
